[Personality] In a time of ancient gods, warlords, and kings, a land in turmoil cried out for a hero. He was Joxer, a mighty warrior, forged in the heat of battle- er, scratch that. Wrong scroll.

Though perhaps the man is often overshadowed by the long shadow cast by legendary heroes such as Xena or Hercules, Joxer (the mighty) has played a great role in history as a loyal friend and occasional hero.

"I was the black sheep. My father was a warlord, my mother a warlord's wife. My whole family was like that. You can't imagine what it was like. 'Jett stole some horses. Jett torched a village. Jett killed the neighbors.' Who could complete with an overachiever like that?"

Joxer's unpleasant childhood was obviously a gigantic factor in his character development and growth into the wannabe hero he would eventually become. The son of a vicious warlord and his musically inclined wife, Joxer was the youngest of three identical triplets. While the oldest of the three (Jace) followed their mother's talents towards a flamboyant life the rest of the family completely shunned and Jett (the middle) became a fierce, well reputed fighter under their father's tutelage, Joxer found himself constantly trapped in the middle of both words, between both his parents and his brothers.

Though his dream was always to live up to the expectations Jett had set for him and to gain some real respect in his father's eyes, the child's mother coddled him as her youngest and encouraged him to train his musical ability, which he did so with glee. However, this only drove a distance between Joxer and his father and Jett, leading to his brother's cruel torment all the way up until the day he left home.

After a childhood full of bullies and teasing, it was only natural that Joxer grew up to develop a seemingly unshakable lack of confidence. Believing himself to always be nothing more than second best, the man invented a heroic persona of himself to parade around, so that if he didn't like himself, at least there was the chance that he could get others to like and look up to him the way he had always dreamed. Perhaps then even his family may come to their senses and see that their youngest wasn't as weak and helpless as they'd always thought. Calling himself Joxer the Mighty, he roamed the land with a cocky fake bravado and false image of himself, attempting to paint himself the way he saw what true heroes really were. Unfortunately, when acting this way, Joxer only manages to come off as foolish, incompetent, naive, pompous, and incredible annoying. However, Joxer, for whatever reason, is completely unaware of how he truly appears in the eyes of others. He believes that he is only being dashing and admirable, which is why he has continued doing it for so long.

And this was how he continued for a very long time, blundering clumsily into the trouble and chasing away all real companionship until Joxer met with Xena and her sidekick Gabrielle. Though initially unimpressed and just as annoyed as the rest of the world with the man's ridiculous act, it didn't take very long for Xena to decide that Joxer was worth the trouble. Surprisingly enough, the two bonded and became the best of friends in no time. Xena showed an understanding patience with the man's insecurities and lack of combat skills, and instead of tearing him down as so many others (Gabrielle included) so often did, she did absolutely everything to undo the damage and rebuild his confidence in himself again. Knowing Joxer to be loyal to a fault and the most trustworthy person she knew, Xena entrusts the most important of missions to the wouldbe warrior (such as the location of the Hind's Blood Dagger) and he is one of only two others allowed to be close to her newborn daughter. Joxer, in return, eventually stops his hero worship of the warrior princess and begins to see her as his closest friend and family. He provides the woman with undying loyalty, love, and much needed laughter. Even after the terrifying debacle in Rome and all of the troubles that followed after, Joxer can step in quicker and better than anyone to help lessen the woman's heavy load.

In Gabrielle, Joxer found something else completely. Despite her insensitive treatment and sometimes cruel behavior towards the man, Joxer fell absolutely and completely in love with the bard, something she was blissfully unaware of for years. Choosing to keep his feelings to himself, because the man knew Gabrielle could never return them, Joxer instead choose to go on with his life and love the woman quietly from afar. At first, he allows her abusive treatment and cold words with only a sheepish smile and shy stammer. She is just far too incredible and angelic to really take offense at the things she does to him. After all, she only mistreats him when he really deserves it, right? Right?

Wrong. As Xena's positive influence takes ahold of the young man and his confidence finally begins to rebuild, Joxer's relationship with Gabrielle begins to turn, but it isn't until Xena and Gabrielle's deaths in Rome that things are flipped onto their heads. Upon returning from the grave, Joxer realizes just how close he had been to losing the greatest love of his life. Wasting no time (okay, maybe just a minute or two), Joxer finally takes it into his hands and tells Gabrielle her true feelings, giving her absolutely no time to reply. He says that she owes him nothing, that he merely wanted her to know the depth of his love for her. And it is like a weight has been lifted off of his scrawny shoulders. With the admission he had kept from her for years now out in the open, Joxer can finally move on, once and for all. No longer does he take her snide comments and physical abuse without comment. No, now he fights back for himself, knowing that true friends wouldn't treat each other like that. And that is how he begins to treat her. She is no longer a perfect angel from heaven. Gabrielle is his friend (his dearest friend, yes), but only a friend who is just as capable of making mistakes as he is. Surprisingly to the both of them, Gabrielle begins to treat the man more kindly now, as if she has suddenly realized just how terrible she has been over the years.

Following Xena's ideals, Joxer aims to help others in need and just to plain 'do good'. Being hailed as a hero is no longer the goal of his life now that he has found people who really love and respect him, he just wants to do the right thing and make his friends proud. As much as he tries, Joxer is often not taken very seriously due to his extreme klutziness. He has a knack of stumbling stupidly into dangerous situations and then immediately talking himself out of them without ever lifting a hand. Though his skill at fighting has improved somewhat after the taking of his first kill and the realization of just what killing truly is, Joxer's talent with combat will never be as great as Xena or Gabrielle's. His ability to talk his way to peace, however, is even more beneficial than any sword swinging capability he could ever possess. This could either be pure skill or just another point towards his incredible luck. (Spoiler: It's probably luck).

Joxer is a goodhearted, brave man who can be quite the charmer when he isn't playing up his Mighty act. He easily befriends others he meets along the way with his endearing attitude and gentleness. He may not have the biggest I.Q., but his heart is in the right place and he is always caring. Since his first meeting of Xena, Joxer has learned quite a great deal about life and survival. No longer does he rush into battle blindly with his sword swinging (unless his dearest friends are in immediate danger), he actually takes a minute to step back and assess the situation and see what Xena plans on doing. He has finally found a real family who actually accepts him alongside of his dearest friends and Joxer will do anything for them.

[Specialties/Abilities] Some swordplay, though certainly nothing of Xena's caliber. He could probably beat someone who was inexperienced or amateur, but not much more than that without his amazing luck. ALSO, another side effect of his great luck, Joxer is probably the best gambler to ever live. His dice rolls are like magic, baby.

Joxer also sings and plays the lyre beautifully, though he believes that music is for wussies. Thanks Dad.

[Affection] What type of affections are allow/disallowed and would your character do this to others?

[Fighting] Yes! While I would like to work out any major injuries or death player-to-player, go for the hurt as much as you like. Just be aware that Joxer has crazy good luck and will likely get out in the nick of time!

[Other Permissions] Talk to me before anything else please!

[Other Facts] Joxer is allergic to sheep.
